The Virginia Partisans Gay and Lesbian Democratic Club Board has endorsed former Arlington County Board Chairman Al Eisenberg to fill the open 47th District Virginia House of Delegates seat being left open by long-time friend Delegate Jim Almand.

Eisenberg, a previous Partisans award recipient for his contributions to human rights and a James B. Hunter Human Rights Award winner, has been one of Virginia's most forceful advocates for equality and a true leader in the fight for domestic partnership benefits and in efforts to include sexual orientation in non-discrimination and hate crimes protections. He has served four terms on the Arlington County Board, as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Transportation in the Clinton Administration, and as an Arlington advocate in Richmond.

Virginia Partisans President Josh Israel said of the endorsement "The 47th District is exceedingly fortunate to have Al Eisenberg running. We are losing an extraordinary Delegate in Jim Almand but we know Al Eisenberg is well-prepared and ready to make an immediate impact in Richmond. He has steadfastly stood with the Partisans and has a proven record of success on issues of equality. We are very proud to be supporting him."

Al Eisenberg and his wife Sharon Davis live in Arlington with their children. For more information on the Eisenberg campaign, visit his website.
