Eisenberg Announces Major Endorsements

Albert C. Eisenberg, Democratic nominee to represent the 47^th District of the Virginia House of Delegates, today announced that eighteen major civic and community organizations are endorsing or supporting his campaign.

"I am honored to receive these endorsements," said Eisenberg. "I think they show my commitment to work hard on the key issues facing Arlington and the Commonwealth of Virginia."

Eisenberg said that the key issues he will fight for include:

• Priority funding for education, including better teacher salaries and retirement plans;
• More attention to human and civil rights issues;
• An improved health care safety net for vulnerable Virginians;
• Environmental protection, including cleaner air and water;
• Smart growth initiatives, and more parkland;
• More rapid transit service;
• Replacement of unsafe bridges;
• A fair, progressive tax system;
• More fiscal autonomy for localities;
• Protection of women's reproductive rights; and
• A General Assembly truly responsive to our needs.

"We need strong, progressive leadership in Richmond," said Eisenberg. "The state budget is in shambles, education is suffering, traffic remains gridlocked, and we are dead last in our commitment to environmental clean-up and preservation. I will fight every day to get Virginia back on track."

The endorsements reflect Eisenberg's proven record on a wide range of issues. For example:

• "We appreciate your commitment to protecting Virginia's environment and preserving its history...." The Virginia League of Conservation Voters.
• "Mr. Eisenberg had a long history of significant support for the Arlington Public Schools and we expect he will be an advocate for our students and educators in the General Assembly." The Virginia Education Association and Arlington Education Association's political action committees.
